Earlier this week, a Twitter user posted a video of a Yonkers police officer doing doughnuts on city property, taking the cruiser for a joy ride late at night. Since being posted on Monday, the video has garnered more than 31,000 views on social media outlets.

There was a sudden backlash on social media, with posters making jokes about cops and doughnuts or posting sarcastic comments about taxpayer dollars.

The officer who was involved in the video has been identified. It was not clear what, if any discipline was in order.

Yonkers Police Commissioner Charles Gardner stated that "we are aware of the video and have identified the responsible officer," in a statement released through a spokesperson. "This Department does not condone this type of unprofessional behavior. We are conducting an internal review to determine appropriate discipline in this matter.”
